From 29 to 31 May 2026, the traditional Czech Days in Kaunas took place as part of the celebrations marking the 32nd anniversary of the partnership between the cities of Kaunas and Brno.
A key part of this year’s program was the award ceremony for the winners of the children’s art competition “Discover the Czech Republic,” which attracted more than 400 pupils from primary schools in Kaunas. A total of 50 young laureates received awards, which were presented in person by Ambassador Aleš Opata and his wife Martina, Deputy Mayor of Kaunas Mantas Jurgutis, and a representative of the City of Brno, Jaroslav Suchý.
On Friday, 29 May, the Czech film Caravan was screened at the “Romuva” cinema center, offering local audiences an insight into contemporary Czech cinema.
The Czech Days concluded on Sunday, 31 May, with a concert held at the historic Town Hall, featuring soloists of the National Theatre Brno – mezzo-soprano Václava Krejčí Housková and baritone Roman Hoza.
