Youth delegates of the Czech Republic spoke at the 74th session of the General Assembly

On 1 October 2019, Alžběta Filipková and Barbora Kvasničková, UN Youth delegates for 2019/2020, spoke on behalf of the Czech youth and the Czech Republic at the Third Committee of the General Assembly.
In their speech, they commemorated the 30th anniversary of the Velvet Revolution in relation to the ongoing demonstrations of 2019 and student climate strikes. They also stressed the need for a new approach to education and the perception of climate change in a human rights context. In the end, they called for young people to be involved in solving these and other challenges by strengthening intergenerational cooperation.
The Young Delegates program is administered by the Czech Council of Children and Youth in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports. This is its fourth year.
