At the end of 2018, the Czech Republic contributed $425,000 into the Special Purpose Trust Fund for Reinvigorated Resident Coordinator System. It joined a group of member states, which voluntarily supported the new system of resident coordinators that is a key element of the ongoing UN development system reform.
With these kinds of contribution, the new system of resident coordinators has been fully operational since January 1, 2019. Resident coordinators are the highest representatives of the UN development system in a program country and they lead the UN country teams composed of representatives of all UN agencies, funds and programs active in this country and members of governmental and non-governmental country entities. Reform of the UN development system is one of the top priorities of the UN Secretary-General, A. Guterres. It aims to secure an efficient and transparent UN development system in accordance with the sustainable development goals of Agenda 2030.
