The Czech Republic co-organizes a videoconference on the role of science, technology and innovation the time of COVID-19 pandemic

Israel, Ghana, Mexico, Singapore, Barbados, Japan, Estonia, Rwanda, Kenya and the Czech Republic in cooperation with the Group of Experts of the UN Secretary-General for science, technology and innovation will organize a videoconference “Sustainable Development Goals In the Era of COVID-19: The Role of Science, Technology, and Innovation” on May 14 and 15, 2020.

The Czech Republic follows upon its successful presidency of the Forum on Science, Technology and Innovation for the Sustainable Development Goals last year. This year’s meeting has been canceled due to the restrictions imposed in response to the novel coronavirus outbreak.

The aim of the videoconference is to discuss current scientific knowledge on the COVID-19 disease, as well as the opportunities and challenges using science, technology and innovation in combating the aftermaths of the crisis caused by the restrictions. These measures should be geared towards the creation of resilient, inclusive and sustainable society, securing the health and security of all people and combating inequities in line with the Sustainable Development Goals.
