President of the Economic and Social Council, Ambassador Chatardová addressed participants at the meeting of Group of Friends for Gender Parity

Ambassador Chatardová, president of the Economic and Social Council of the UN (ECOSOC) delivered a speech focused on the gender equality and empowerment of women across all sectors and all context. She focused especially on the most vulnerable groups: girls born into poverty, indigenous girls and women, and girls with disabilities.

She emphasized adoption of the ECOSOC´s resolution on mainstreaming a gender perspective into all policies and programs in the United Nations system, which has been adopted today in the ECOSOC. The resolution delivers global commitments on gender equality and the empowerment of women. Member States through the resolution agreed that gender mainstreaming is required to integrate women’s specific concerns and experiences into all policies and programs in all sectors.
