President of ECOSOC, Ambassador M. Chatardová opened the SDG Investment Fair

Ambassador M. Chatardová, President of the Economic and Social Council of the UN (ECOSOC), opened the Sustainable development goals (SDG) Investment Fair, which was held on April 22, 2018 directly preceding the 2018 Financing for Development Forum (FfD). The Fair organized by UN DESA brought together ministers of finance and high-level officials from emerging markets with the investor community, to explore new opportunities for SDG investment and discuss specific projects in the pipelines of national governments.
In her welcoming remarks, Ambassador Chatardová expressed a belief that public leadership is indispensable to trigger the required changes and realize critical new investments. On the other hand, she emphasized that national governments also need to continue to work to build competitive business environments and reduce investment risks.
