President of ECOSOC, Ambassador M. Chatardová, opened the Regional Forum on Sustainable Development for the UNECE region in Geneva

Ambassador M. Chatardová, in her capacity as the President of the Economic and Social Council of the UN (ECOSOC), opened the Regional Forum on Sustainable Development for the UNECE region (UN Economic Commission for Europe), which took place in Geneva on March 1 and March 2, 2018. The forum included discussions across several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and sharing experiences of UNECE nations.

In her opening remarks, Ambassador Chatardová, emphasized the key notion of leaving no one behind in the process of achieving sustainable and resilient societies, which is the main theme of the High-Level Political Forum of ECOSOC taking place in July in New York. President of the ECOSOC also opened a side event co-organized by the Czech Republic, Georgia, the European Union and UNECE. This side event on “Achieving SDGs by participation of all” was moderated by the Permanent Representative of the Czech Republic to the United Nations in Geneva, Mr. J. Kára, and with panelists from specialized functions within the EU and the UN.

Ambassador Chatardová also spoke during a side event titled “Fashion and the SDGs” and an executive briefing with the representatives of member states on the reform of the development system.
