President of the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations (ECOSOC) chaired the Global Energy Conference, which took place between February 21 and February 23 in Bangkok. This conference served as a preparatory meeting for the review of Sustainable Development Goal 7 (SDG 7 – sustainable energy) during the upcoming High-Level Political Forum to take place in New York in July 2018.
Ambassador Chatardová opened the entire conference and chaired the ministerial plenary on February 22, 2018. This global conference brought together key stakeholders from governments, UN system, private sector and civil society and sparked discussions on the importance of sustainable energy that will feed into the review of SDG7 during the High-Level Political Forum in July.
President of ECOSOC also met with the Executive Secretary of the UN Commission for Asia and Pacific, Mrs. Shamshad Akhtar.
