President of ECOSOC, Ambassador Chatardová, spoke at the high-level dinner on sustainable renewable energy

Ambassador Chatardová, president of the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations (ECOSOC), spoke at the high-level dinner on sustainable renewable energy organized by the Permanent Mission of Norway to the United Nations and the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) on July 16, 2018. Aim of the event was to stimulate interactive dialogue on the importance of renewable energy amongst high-level policy makers, business leaders and the general public.

President Chatardová highlighted the positive momentum in the space of renewable sustainable energy (SDG number 7), which was first reviewed during this year’s High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF). She emphasized the need for more financing for researching new efficient technologies and building national capacities, especially in the most vulnerable countries. Sustainable energy for all is within reach and the international community must scale up its activities in this space.
