President of ECOSOC, Ambassador Chatardová addressed the ninth World Urban Forum in Kuala Lumpur

President of the Economic and Social Council of the UN (ECOSOC), Ambassador M. Chatardová, spoke during the closing panel of the ninth World Urban Forum that was held in Kuala Lumpur. Ambassador Chatardová spoke on the panel with Minister of Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Development, Mr. Noh Omar, and the Executive Director of UN Habitat, Ms. Maimunah Sharif.

Ambassador Chatardová spoke about the importance of involving all stakeholders and communities in the process of achieving the sustainable development goals (SDGs). Growing urban societies are especially important and the outputs of this World Urban Forum will be elaborated upon during the High-Level Political Forum (HLPF) on sustainable development to be hold in July 2018 in New York.

During her trip, ambassador Chatardová also spoke during a side-event organized by UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs on the role of cities during the HLPF discussions. She also bilaterally met with the Deputy of Minister of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia.
