The Czech Republic, represented by H.E. Mrs. Marie Chatardová, chaired the Coordination and Management Meeting of the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) during its session on 6th and 7th of July 2017 in New York.
While overlooking reports of ECOSOC’s subsidiary and expert bodies, ECOSOC without a vote unanimously adopted several resolutions and decisions related to the topics of global importance. Namely, the Council discussed topics such as crime prevention and narcotic drug control, refugees, human rights, indigenous issues, sustainable development, science and technology for development, international tax matters, assistance to third states affected by the application of sanctions, or HIV/AIDS. Throughout the meeting, the Council heard from the heads of several of its relevant subsidiary bodies, who underscored the progress and challenges in their respective fields.
