Minister of Regional Development of the Czech Republic, Mrs. Karla Šlechtová, addresses the General Assembly meeting on UN Habitat

The UN General Assembly Meeting on the implementation of the New Urban Agenda and the positioning of UN Habitat took place at the UN Headquarters in New York between September 5 and September 6, 2017. The first speaker representing the member states during the general debate was the Minister of Regional Development of the Czech Republic, Mrs. Karla Šlechtová.
During her speech Minister Šlechtová among other things brought up the necessity to both adjust the positioning of UN Habitat as mentioned in the independent panel of experts, and also heed the recommendations of the panel for the future. It was also recommended during her speech that the cooperation between UN Habitat and the UN Regional Economic Commissions (including the UN Economic Commission for Europe in Geneva – UNECE) should be strengthened. Mrs. Šlechtová further confirmed the importance of decisive implementation of the New Urban Agenda (NUA) and preparedness of the Czech Republic to be involved on all levels.
