Expert Group Meeting on Progress in Achieving SDG 2 in Preparation for HLPF

Permanent Representative of the Czech Republic to the UN, H.E. Mrs. Marie Chatardová, in her capacity as the Vice-President of ECOSOC, delivered her opening remarks on June 9, 2017 at the Expert Group Meeting on Progress in Achieving the Sustainable Development Goal 2 (eradication of hunger) in Preparation for the High-Level Political Forum (HLPF), which will take place in July in New York.

Ambassador M. Chatardová, in her capacity as the Vice-President of ECOSOC, delivered her opening remarks, which were focused on recognizing the importance of this meeting in order to have informed and fruitful negotiations on the zero draft of the Ministerial Declaration for the HLPF, which is to take place in July and is focused, inter alia, on eradicating extreme poverty and promoting prosperity in a changing world. Ambassador Chatardová also asked the experts to deliberate on sufficiency of the Member State actions, robustness of international cooperation and the general governance framework in regards to eradicating extreme poverty and hunger.
