The DCF Argentina High-Level Symposium took place in Buenos Aires on 6-8 September 2017, as the first preparatory symposium for the 2018 Development Cooperation Forum and as a key milestone in the run up to Buenos Aires Plan for Action Conference+40 (BAPA+40). Permanent Representative of the Czech Republic to the United Nations, H.E. Mrs. Marie Chatardová, in her capacity as President of the Economic and Social Council of the UN, delivered closing remarks.
Nearly forty years since the historic UN Conference on Technical Cooperation among Developing Countries of 1978 in Buenos Aires, South-South cooperation has become an effective modality for the exchange of capacity building, technology and know-how among developing countries. Both the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Addis Ababa Action Agenda welcome the increased contribution of South-South cooperation to poverty eradication and sustainable development.
South-South and triangular cooperation continue to expand and evolve. They are flourishing at different levels, involving a multiplicity of actors. The symposium will bring together policymakers and development experts representing the diversity of stakeholders to advance South-South and triangular cooperation in the SDG era.
H.E. Mrs. Marie Chatardová, President of ECOSOC, delivered her closing remarks, where she focused on delivering horizontal solutions within the global economic and financial architecture. In this regard, she offered the ECOSOC platform to serve as a network of peers making their efforts more visible and meaningful.
