Permanent Representative of the Czech Republic to the United Nations, H.E. Mrs. Marie Chatardova, chaired the general debate and other expert panels during the ECOSOC Forum on Financing for Development, which took place between May 22 and May 25, 2017 in New York.
The main task of the forum was to identify the key obstacles in successfully implementing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Addis Ababa Action Agenda, especially in terms of current financial limitations. Financing for Development is not limited only to the Official Development Assistance (ODA) but includes also other forms of public and private financial inflows.
The Czech Republic maintains that the Agenda 2030 has a universal character and it is important to emphasize the responsibility of countries for their own social and economic development. In this regard, we consider the development of tools that lead to enhancing the capacity building and domestic resources mobilization in partner countries of the utmost importance. ODA concept remains as an irreplaceable catalyst of future development, especially in regards to the least developed and fragile nations.
