Czech Mission participated in the annual UN Bazaar

Under the high patronage of Mrs. Catrina Vaz Pinto Guterres, spouse of H.E. Mr. António Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations, the Committee of Spouses of Permanent Representatives, UN Women’s Guild and other UN Women´s Organizations based in New York City organized the annual UN International Bazaar on Thursday, May 27, 2017. The Czech Republic´s merchandise and raffle contribution was organized by the wife of the Deputy Permanent Representative, Mrs. Libuše Ellingerová. Huge thank you goes to other dedicated members of our team and especially to our generous partners and sponsors.

The rainy Thursday of May 27 saw another reiteration of the annual UN International Bazaar, where the member states of the United Nations present and sell unique national handicrafts and cuisine in order to raise donations that will benefit projects dedicated to the welfare of children and women in vulnerable situations around the world. This year, Czech Republic´s merchandise stall was coordinated by the wife of the Deputy Permanent Representative of the Czech Republic to the UN, Mrs. Libuše Ellingerová, with dedicated support of other members of our team. Generous contributions from our sponsors made it possible to raise $1,007.00, which is more than double from the previous year. The proceeds of the 2017 Bazaar will go towards the Syrian Refugees (via the Balsam Project) and the UN Women’s Guild projects to help children and women throughout the world.

The contribution of the Czech Republic to this highly anticipated social event would not be possible without the generous support of our partners and sponsors. First and foremost, our thanks go to the Consulate General of the Czech Republic in New York as they reached out to the following sponsors on our behalf: TONAK company provided amazing hats and caps, HOLÍK company donated variety of hand-made gloves, Glassor USA helped with Christmas ornaments, and the Long Island City store Slovak-Czech Varieties supplied Czech snacks and chocolates. We are also grateful to the agencies of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic and CzechTourism for gift items, Horácké Theater Jihlava and the Vysočina Region Office in Jihlava for cultural and local handicrafts.

Last, but not least, we would like to thank Bohemian Spirit Restaurant in New York for donating a dinner for two for the Bazaar´s raffle.
