Ambassador Chatardová spoke on behalf of Group of Eastern European States during Nelson Mandela International Day

Ambassador M. Chatardová, President of the Economic and Social Council of the UN (ECOSOC), spoke on behalf of the Group of Eastern European States (EEG) during the celebrations of Nelson Mandela International Day on July 18, 2018, which marked 100 years since South African leader’s birth.

During her speech Ambassador Chatardová praised Mandela as an embodiment of all values of the United Nations. This year’s dedication of Mandela Day to the Action Against Poverty serves as a powerful reminder of his fight for social justice for all. Ambassador Chatardová said that Mandela Day is not a public holiday but a call to action for all individuals, as they have all the power to change the world.
