On Wednesday, June 19, 2019, a military plane of the Czech Republic with three Mares of Przewalski's horse landed at the airport in Bulgan soum in Khovd province.
It is already the ninth transport carried out by the Prague Zoo, to which all its visitors make financial contribution. Thanks to the cooperation of Czech and Mongolian experts in the field of endangered species protection, the population is increasing every year in the Great Gobi B strictly protected area. With this year's transport, a total of 34 wild horses from European zoos have been returned to Mongolia.
This year, Prague Zoo will hand over a new off-road vehicle and several motorcycles to the rangers of Great Gobi B strictly protected area. The campaign to raise financial support "Postcard from Mongolia" attracted many Czech citizens before the departure of this year's transport. For those who contributed to the collection, team members from Mongolia will send a signed postcard and the proceeds from the campaign will be put into the fund for conservation of endangered species in the wild, such as the Gobi bear Mazaalai, saiga antelope and wild Bactrian camel in Mongolia.
