Meeting with Czech students from universities in Tallinn and Tartu

On 27th of November 2014, the ambassador R.Kadlčák met with the students studying in Tartu and on 3rd of December 2014 with the students studying in Tallinn. Those meetings are traditionally organised by the Embassy in spring and autumn semester.

The meetings confirmed the growing interest of students about stays in Estonia. More than 60 Czech students were studying in diferent Estonian universities (mostly participants of the Erasmus programme) in the winter semester 2014. To compare with the past, majority of them chose Estonia as their first choice (so, not as a place of “last resort” when all other possibilities failed). The main reasons are very positive references about the simple administration and friendly approach of Estonian universities. A common reason is also good geographical location (large amount of easily accessible tourist attractions).

On a mutually beneficial meeting students described their experiences and their perception of the Estonia. They were informed about the functioning of the Embassy. It was also discussed with the students how the Embassy could be even more helpful to students in the future. At the moment, the main difficulty in Tartu and Tallinn are the constraints with accommodation capacities (as a consequence of generally increasing interest of foreign students to study in Estonia). It was agreed that representatives of the Embassy will emphasize this particular issue in appropriate meetings.
