Semiconductor Industry in Czechia
The Czech Republic, with its strategic positioning at the heart of Europe and a strong history in semiconductor components and manufacturing plays a central role in Europe’s semiconductor supply chain. In its recent report, the OECD rated Czechia to be amongst the top manufacturers of chip production equipment, particularly electron microscopes as the country currently produces one third of the microscope's global supply.
Not only does Czechia have highly developed electron microscopy and chip design sectors, but it has also doubled down its efforts to support its semiconductor industry and integrate deeper into the global supply chains by formulating a National Semiconductor Strategy. As of now, 3 million wafers are made in Czechia every year and the semiconductor market is expected to grow by 8.5% annually. What is more, already 80 companies in Czechia have made their way into the semiconductor value chain, employing around 11 000 workers. As such, Czechia is well poised to attract significant foreign investment and assume an integral role in global semiconductor value and supply chains.
Finally, Czechia has recently opened the Czech Semiconductor Centre . The centre is supported by the EU-wide initiative “Chips for Europe” and will not only be an integral part of the emerging European network of competence centres but will also become a key player in strengthening Europe’s strategic autonomy.
Strong Cooperation between Taiwan and Czechia
Czechia’s presence at this exhibition reflects our continued and growing cooperation with Taiwan in the semiconductor sector. The Supply Chain Resilience Center (SCRC), opened in 2023, and the Advanced Chip Design and Research Center (ACDRC), launched in 2024, focuse on education and research while also building strong ties between Taiwan’s semiconductor industry and the Czech Republic. With vibrant student exchanges and joint research projects supported by the Technological Agency of the Czech Republic (TAČR), this cooperation is a shared investment in innovation and technological development.
Meet our Exhibitors
This year, the Czech Pavillion will host leading Czech research institutions, universities, and companies that are the driving force behind Czechia´s flourishing tech and science ecosystem. Visitors to the pavilion will experience an impressive array of solutions, projects, and success stories that showcase Czechia’s technology-driven progress and capabilities in fields spanning from semiconductors, laser technologies, to particle imaging. This year’s exhibitors will include: ADVACAM, Brno University of Technology, Charles University, Czech National Semiconductor Cluster, DCT Czech, HiLASE Centre, Meopta, SVCS Process Innovation, UNITES Systems and Vakuum Servis and CzechInvest.
