Taiwanese students studying the Czech language at the National Chengchi University had a chance to participate at the Czech language contest and learn more about Czech folklore.

Czech Economic and Cultural Office in cooperation with the National Chengchi University (NCCU) - the Department of Slavic Languages and Literature organized the Czech language contest for Taiwanese students studying Czech. During the contest, students had to present selected Czech rhetoric text followed by reading a Czech rhyme. Students then worked in-groups where they were assigned a number of tasks to test their knowledge of the Czech language. In total 21 students attended the contest from three different categories - beginners, lower-intermediate and intermediate. The Czech language can be difficult to learn for foreigners, thus the jury appreciated the efforts and enthusiasm of all Taiwanese students and firmly believes that many of them will someday study in the Czech Republic.

The host lecturer Ondřej Geppert from the Department of Slavic Languages and Literature at the NCCU, who was managing the contest´s preparations as well, also introduced the rich Czech folk customs to the audience.

See for yourselves how much you like the performances by the Taiwanese students. Find more photos and videos on our Facebook page under the title Czech Economic and Cultural Office in Taipei 捷克 經濟 文化 辦事處.
