Czech companies at B2B seminar with PEAB, the largest Swedish construction company

On April 5, 2017, Czech Embassy in Stockholm and CzechTrade Scandinavia hosted B2B seminar for Czech construction companies with PEAB, the largest Swedish company in construction business. Seminar drew an enormous interest as it worth attending to 17 purchasing managers of PEAB and 15 representatives of 8 different Czech companies.

Currently, there is a significant construction boom in Sweden and local companies are not able to meet the demand which gives an unique opportunity to Czech firms to become subcontractors to large Swedish companies.

PEAB, which operates not only in Sweden but also in Norway and Finland, is the largest Swedish and Nordic construction company. PEAB employs more than 14 thousand people and realized sales in amount of 46 bil. SEK (approx. 5 bil. EUR) in 2016. Total of 17 PEAB´s purchasing managers attended the seminar, including Ingvar Hermansson, Chief Purchasing Manager, Arnold Uddman, Head of International Procurement in PEAB´s Stockholm Brench and 15 others purchasing managers for respective fields (concrete works, partition walls, facades, flooring etc.)

The Czech Republic was represented by following companies: Czech Moravia Services, Fenestra Wieden, Glasiert, LIKO-S, RockSalt, DPS CZ (STI), Taros Nova a VKM Solutions. The Czech companies presented themselves after initial presentation of PEAB followed by more than 2hours long B2B meetings of PEAB´s purchasers with every Czech company. Katerina Strömsholm, an expert on labor law and Czech Honorary Consul in Malmö, offered an in-depth insight into labor law in Sweden in connection with sending foreign workers into Sweden. The possibility to have direct contacts with purchasing managers and legal and tax consulting were considered a significant added value of the seminar.

Sweden has already an extensive experience with Czech construction companies. To name just a few: Fenestra Wieden (facade of office building Uarda in Solna/Stockholm, facade of Nationalarenan above Mall of Scandinavia in Solna/Stockholm, façade of Karolinska Institutet aula in Solna/Stockholm etc. Another Czech company Taros Nova participated in construction of Karolinska Institutet aula as Fenestra subcontractor. Company RockSalt built chemical plant in Köping.
