SEOUL – Czech PEN Club literary event with Markéta Hejkalová

Vice President of the Czech PEN Club Markéta Hejkalová was a main guest at a literary gathering at Czech Info Center on February 16, 2012. Hejkalová, who is not only an acclaimed writer, but also a translator of Finnish literature into Czech and a well-known publisher (www.hejkal.cz), spoke about her own work and about the Czech literature in the new millenium.
This event was organized by the Embassy of the Czech Republic represented by Ms. Lee Hee-sook, and Dept. of Czech and Slovak at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, with Professor Ivana Bozděchová present. Some 30+ people attended this small literary gathering, including poet Lee Gil-Won, President of Korean PEN Club (www.penkorea.or.kr).
Markéta Hejkalová´s visit to Seoul preceded her trip to Gyeongju for preparatory meeting ahead of the 78th International PEN Congress to be held there on coming September with some 300 authors from more than 100 countries expected.
