SEOUL – Czech marionettes at Hi Seoul 2011 festival

Popular Czech puppets are once more on show at Seoul. Czech professonal marionette troupe Karromato presents its well-known show Wooden Circus based on historical Central European puppet performances.

Five sold-out performances by Karrromato (www.karromato.cz), Czech professional marionette company, the members of which are also Spanish, Hungarian and Serb performers living in the Czech Republic, confirmed the interest of the Korean public in traditional marionette shows. Such ones – like Wooden Circus – follow the tradition of classical Central European marionette performances and preserve their traditional values, not just as museum pieces, but also as a living form of contemporary theatrical expression, which captivate and entertain both young and adult audiences. Marionette shows has a tradition in the Czech Republic dating back hundreds of years and it used to be – and still is – one of the most popular theatre performances for Czech children.

Their shows také part at Yeouido Hangang Park from May 5-8, 2011. More at www.hiseoulfest.org
