SEOUL - Czech Deputy Prime Minister Schwarzenberg met with leading Korean companies

On the sidelines of the 2012 Seoul Nuclear Security Summit, the 1st Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic Mr. Karel Schwarzenberg, hosted a lunch for the representatives of leading Korean companies. These were the main investors into the Czech economy – Hyundai Motor Company, Doosan Heavy Industries and Construction, Hanwha and GS Caltex, companies having their offices in Prague – Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics, and Korean Air, which operates its direct flights from Incheon to Prague four times a week since 2004.

Minister Schwarzenberg mentioned that the volume of trade between the both
countries – which virtually did not exist a mere 22 years ago – reached its
highest level in 2012, when it reached 3.2 billion USD. The Republic of Korea
thus strengthened its position as the fourth largest partner of the Czech
Republic outside of Europe (after China, United States and Japan) and became
bigger trade partner than many European countries, such as Bulgaria or Romania.
