NONSAN - 49齋:a Buddhist memorial service for the late President Václav Havel

On February 5, 2012 the final Buddhist memorial service Sasigpu jae for the late former president of Czechoslovakia and the Czech Republic, H.E. Mr. Václav Havel, was held in the Jijang Jeongsa Temple (http://www.jijang.net) in Nonsan, the Republic of Korea.
On that day – thanks to expert on Korean buddhism and Czech scholar Marek Zemánek - a group of Czech citizens resident in the Republic of Korea, among them students of Korean studies, professors of Czech language and also chargé d´affaires of the Embassy of the Czech Republic to the Republic of Korea Mr. Ivan Vlček paid their respects, there.
The ceremony started with a series of services held on every Sunday for seven weeks according to the Korean Buddhist tradition. The ceremony was open to public and everybody was welcomed to participate along with the monks and nuns of the temple to pay respect to the great Czech politician, writer and hero of freedom.
