BUSAN – 3rd Korea-EU Business Forum highlighted the Czech Republic

Pusan National University EU Center (www.eucenter.pusan.ac.kr) established in April 2009 has organized its 3rd Korea-EU Business Forum on November 18, 2011. With the presence of the Speaker of the Senate of the Czech Republic, Hon. Milan Štěch, and his delegation consisting of other senators, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Milan Hovorka, Deputy Director General of Czech Export Bank Luboš Vaněk and a dozen business people, the focus of the yearly conference was aimed on Central Europe.

As the European Union is the 2nd most important trading partner of the Republic of Korea and its bilateral trade relations are likely to be even more important since the KOREU Free Trade Agreement entered into force in mid-2011, the Central Europe is more and more in focus of Korean companies, as well as Korea became a standard business partner for Czech businessmen. With presentations of Czech Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry Milan Hovorka, Deputy Director General of Czech Export Bank Luboš Vaněk, Chief Investment Planning Officer of Busan Metropolitan City Cho Don-young, General Manager of Mageba Korea Co. Ltd. Thomas Schurch, Senior Vice President/Europe Hyundai Motor Company Rhim Byung-Kwon, Director of Converteam Korea Mark Paine etc. the successful forum allowed both Czechs and Koreans to take a closer look at EU/Czech-RoK trade and investment cooperation in the past as well as showed the possibilities for the future. Forum organized by PNU EU Center´s director Yi Chae-Deug in a cooperation with Embassy of the Czech Republic offered a great platform to discuss various issues and finding the directions of development of mutual beneficial relations.
