Promotion of the Czech food and beverage at the International Food Fair, Seoul Food 2016

Czech Embassy in Seoul, prepared in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic and the Ministry of Agriculture of the Czech Republic completed project of economic diplomacy for the purpose of supporting and invigoration of Czech food export to the Republic of Korea. Companies from the Czech Republic that took part were; EMCO, KMV, KMS Group, Rudolf Jelinek, Plzensky Prazdroj, Pivovar Velke Popovice, Gold of Prague, RAVY, Bernard Brewery and Wine of Czech, consisting of eight stalls, presenting their fine products.
 

From 10 to 13 May 2016 in Kintex, Goyang city, one of the leading Asian international food fair, Seoul Food 2016 was held. There were 823 domestic and 712 foreign exhibitors from 45 countries who presented their products on an area of ​​76,121 sqm, with more than 54,000 visitors. Not only the food and beverage products, but also related business associates from the extension of food production such as manufacturers and importers of food utensils, kitchen equipment etc.

The well exposed to the public stand of the Czech Republic of 90 m²,  a project of economic diplomacy prepared by Economic and Commercial Section of the Czech Embassy in Seoul in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic and the Ministry of Agriculture of the Czech Republic. Our stand focused on promoting exports of food products from the Czech Republic to the Republic of Korea. There were other separate booths from Czech companies and representatives were from EMCO, KMV, KMS Group, Rudolf Jelinek, Plzensky Prazdroj, Pivovar Velke Popovice, Gold of Prague, RAVY, Bernard Brewery and Wine of Czech.

The common stand of the Embassy, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Agriculture displayed and represented a number of other Czech food companies such as Carla, Marlenka, BIOMIDA, Clip - Božena Jílková, Nara Natur, Rupa, Úsovsko Food and Petráčková the wafers.

Czech Republic stand was also used to advertise Czech Republic as an ideal place for foreign investors and concurrently as a major tourist destination. Apart from food samples and catalogs of CzechTourism and CzechInvest agencies, visitors were also available to take publications of "Doing Business in the Czech Republic" and the Czech Chamber of Commerce membership catalogue. Czech Republic's presentation was preceded by extremely demanding preparation and coordination of activities with Czech institutions and Korean companies (Korean Association Kõima, KOTRA, MFA, Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry for Regional Development etc.).

On May 10, Ambassador T. Husák visited the Czech Republic Booths, who held talks with Czech exhibitors. He was also impressed with Czech companies’ involvements and display of Czech foods, wines, beers, spirits and soft drinks produced by the Czech food sector and organization from the staff of the Ministries and the Embassy. Korean visitors were most interested in the Czech beers - Pilsner Urquell and Velké Popovice (KOZEL), followed by liqueurs Rudolf Jelinek, meat products company RAVY and last but not least of Karlovy Vary wafers. Notable company, Gold of Prague, whom are preparing to build a brewery in the Republic of Korea, becoming the first Czech investor in Republic of Korea also gained large interest.

The whole event achieved its goal thanks to intensive preparation and cooperation of trade and economic section of the Czech Embassy in Seoul with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Agriculture. Participation in the exhibition Seoul Food 2016 allowed Czech companies to introduce the Republic of Korea of their products and services. Many have started business negotiations on the supply of food products from the Czech Republic to Korea and even other countries. The success of the Czech presentation at the Seoul Food Fair 2016 has received extraordinary interest of the whole Czech Exposition, visited not only by representatives of Korean companies, but also the representatives of Korean ministries, institutions, chambers of commerce and associations.
