
2022 DGIEA Evening of Friendship

On Nov. 25, Ambassador Gustav Slamečka attended "2022 DGIEA Evening of Friendship" hosted by the Daegu Gyeongbuk International Exchange Association (DGIEA).
This year marks the 14th anniversary of DGIEA's Evening of Friendship event, which has been one of the most representative international exchange event in the region. This year's event was held under the theme "Innovation, Harmony and Peace" with more than 660 people attended, including ambassadors and diplomats from 20 countries and presidents and members of 38 associations under DGIEA.
Deputy Mayor of Daegu Metropolitan City Jonghwa Lee (on behalf of Daegu Mayor Hong Joon Pyo), Governor of Gyeongsangbuk-do Province Lee Cheolwoo and President of Keimyung University Shin Ilhi delivered the welcome speech as the co-chairmen. After the co-chairs' speech, Ambassador Slamečka also delivered a congratulatory speech in honor of DGIEA's contribution to regional innovation and cultural exchange, along with thanks for inviting the Czech Embassy to the event.
Started with the Korea-Poland Association established in 1995, DGIEA currently has associations with 38 countries. The Korea-Czech Association was established in 2007 and has cooperated closely with the Embassy of Czechia ever since.
Recently in 2021, the exhibition "1989 Velvet Revolution - the Fall of the Iron Curtain" was held jointly by the Czech Embassy, Korea-Czech Association and the Gyeongsangbuk-do Province at the Daegu Education Museum and Gyeongsangbuk-do Office.
At the DGIEA event, Ambassador Slamečka met President of the Korea-Czech Association Park Myeong-ho, Professor Jang Sung-yong, and other association members to share opinions on our future cooperation.
