
UN Culture Week

As part of the UN Culture Week, a varied programme of seminars, lectures, film screenings and other entertaining or educational activities was organised at the War Memorial of Korea from the 19th to the 23rd of October 2021.
The historic first Culture Week to commemorate the 30th anniversary of ROK UN membership and the 71st anniversary of the start of the Korean War was officially launched on 19th of October at the War Memorial of Korea. The purpose was to honor the memory and loyalty of all veterans and nations participating in Korean War. Many distinguished guests such as SUH, Wook (Minister of National Defense), Hwang, Ki Chul (Minister of Patriots and Veterans Affairs), Cathrine Raper (Ambassador of Australia to the Republic of Korea) besides the President of the Korean War Memorial LEE, Sang Chul spoke at the opening event.
The ceremony was attended, among others, by the Ambassadors of the UN Coalition countries, as well as the Ambassador Gustav Slamečka, who represented the Czech Republic as a member of the Neutral States Supervisory Commission (NSSC). The NSSC was established with the objective to supervise the adherence to the truce between the Republic of Korea and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.
