The Embassy of the Czech Republic, in collaboration with the National Folk Museum of Korea, proudly hosted a vibrant Czech Folklore Concert on October 27, 2024, to celebrate Czech National Day. This special event featured the renowned Czech folk music ensemble Danaj, who brought the rich musical traditions of Czechia to an enthusiastic audience in Seoul.
Danaj, established in 1988, hails from Strážnice, a historic town in the Moravia region known for hosting the largest and oldest folklore festival in Europe. Their performance offered an authentic experience of Moravian folk music, accompanied by the cimbalom—a traditional Central European instrument renowned for its unique sound and cultural significance. The ensemble’s diverse repertoire, based on folk melodies from the Strážnice area, provided an engaging and delightful experience for all ages.
The concert drew a large and diverse audience, reflecting the strong cultural ties between Czechia and Korea. The Embassy of the Czech Republic extends its gratitude to the National Folk Museum of Korea for their support in co-hosting this event, which brought Czech folk traditions to new audiences and deepened mutual cultural understanding.
