International Holocaust Remembrance Day

The United Nations General Assembly designated January 27 as International Holocaust Remembrance

Day (IHRD) in honor and remembrance of 6 million lives that have perished in the Holocaust.

To support the importance of this memorial day, the Czech Embassy Seoul took a part in the “Light a Candle” campaign, an online campaign initiated by the Embassy of Israel and the Embassy of Italy in Seoul.

As part of this campaign, the Czech Ambassador Gustav Slamecka and Deputy Head of Mission Zbynek Noha lit two candles, respectively, after reading each victim’s name written on the candle, in order to assure that even after eight decades we still remember the tragedy, and it should not be forgotten or repeated.
