The Korean National Symphony Orchestra's "Dvorak Symphony No. 6" performed at Lotte Concert Hall, Seoul, on July 11, 2023, was the perfect stage for the esteemed Czech conductor Tomáš Netopil's debut in Korea.
Tomáš Netopil is the Principal Guest Conductor of the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra. Along with Bamberger Symphoniker's Chief Conductor Jakub Hrůša, who is also his fellow conductor at the Czech Philharmonic, Netopil is considered to be the leader of the Czech classical music industry today. Also as the music director of Germany's Essen Philharmonic Orchestra, the Czech conductor shows his talent actively around the European continent including Germany, France and Italy.
The performance in Seoul was his debut in Korea with the Korean National Symphony Orchestra. He presented the essence of the Czech musical repertoire that contains a deep Bohemian sense through B. Smetana's Opera <The Bartered Bride> Overture and A. Dvořák's Symphony No. 6 D Major Op. 60. For F. Chopin's Piano Concerto No. 2, a world-known Korean pianist William Yoon joined to offer the most beautiful sound of Chopin.
Ambassador of the Czech Republic in Seoul Gustav Slamečka and the Director of the Czech Center Seoul Michal Emanovský were invited to enjoy the performance and congratulate the excellent performance by the Czech conductor and the orchestra.
