The opening ceremony for the special exhibition commemorating the 100th anniversary of famous Czech runner Emil Zátopek was held on Aug. 9 at Son Kee Chung Memorial Hall in Seoul.
Hosted by the Czech Centre Seoul and Son Kee Chung Memorial Hall, the opening ceremony was attended by the Son Kee Chung Memorial Foundation, Korea Association of Athletics Federation, Czech Embassy and fellow diplomatic corps. The Czech Embassy finds the event even more meaningful as it was also one of the events commemorating the Czech Presidency of The Council of the EU.
After the opening ceremony, a special summer concert was held in commemoration of the 9th of August, the day when Son Kee Chung won his gold medal at the Berlin Olympics in 1936. Despite heavy rain, many people joined us at the indoor concert to enjoy the wonderful performances of the brass quintet, string quartet and children's choir.
The exhibition is held from Aug. 10 to Sept. 7 on the 2nd floor of Son Kee Chung Memorial Hall. (10 a.m. ~18 p.m., closed on Mondays, free of charge)
