Ambassador's visit to Changwon highlights opportunities in industry, energy and many more

As Changwon, one of Korea's leading industrial cities, gains attention as an emerging center for clean energy transition and international cooperation, Ambassador Ivan Jančárek paid an official visit to the city to discuss potential areas of collaboration between Czechia and Changwon.
Traditionally recognized as a major hub for heavy industry, precision machinery, and the energy sector, Changwon City has in recent years been actively pursuing new growth strategies in areas such as carbon neutrality and renewable enrgy. Ambassador Ivan Jančárek's visit offered an opportunity to examine the potential for expanding industrial and technological cooperation between Czcechia and Changwon.
During a meeting with Mr. Jang Geum-yong, Acting Mayor of Changwon, the Ambassador discussed a wide range of topics including sister-city partnerships, industrial technology exchange, clean energy transition, and broader municipal cooperation. Both sides agreed that they share numerous areas of mutual interest and expressed their commitment to maintaining close communication to develop practical models for future collaboration.
The Ambassador also visited Changwon University, where he delivered a lecture titled "Czech-Korean Cooperation in Energy and the Economy" to students. His talk covered the current status of bilateral economic exchanges, national energy policies, and developments in both nuclear and renewable energy sectors.
This visit laid an important foundation for expanding cooperation between Czechia and Changwon across industry, academia and international exchange. Both sides expressed hope that concrete joint projects will lead to an even closer and more dynamic partnership in the years ahead.
