On Monday, July 12, 2021, the Czech Republic will present its second Voluntary National Review (VNR) of the implementation of Agenda 2030 at the UN High-Level Political Forum for Sustainable Development (HLPF). This year, a total of 44 countries will undergo this procedure. It is the second time for Czechia which presented its first VNR in 2017.

This is a significant event in terms of the international presentation of the fulfillment of the Sustainable Development Goals in the Czech Republic at the UN, where Member States approved the 2030 Agenda in 2015 and committed themselves to meeting their 17 goals (SDGs) by 2030. The report summarizes the areas in which the Czech Republic manages to meet the agreed goals, as well as identifies weaknesses and challenges for their further implementation.

The presentation of the VNR will also include a video-message by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Jakub Kulhánek and representatives of the Ministry of the Environment or the non-profit sector. In addition, on July 14, 2021, a side event will take place - a virtual panel discussion "Check the Czech Solutions for Sustainability", at which professor Jeffrey D. Sachs, a prominent American economist and coordinator of the Sustainable Development Report 2021, will also speak.

It was this report issued on June 14, 2021 that confirmed the long-term position of the Czech Republic at the forefront of fulfilling the goals of sustainable development. This year, the Czech Republic placed 12th in the global rankings.
