On the beautiful evening of Oct. 24, the world-renowned Czech Philharmonic with 127 years of history presented the rich and harmonious sounds of Czech classical music at Seoul Arts Center.
As the leading orchestra of not just the Czech Republic but of the whole Central Europe, the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra and its Permanent Conductor Semyon Bychkov chose Korea and Japan as the destinations for their Asia tour. The orchestra performed in Seoul at Seoul Arts Center on the 24th of October and in Daegu at the Daegu Concert House on the 25th. The Czech Philharmonic brought the essence of Czech music to the Korean audience with the repertoire of Antonín Dvořák, one of the best Czech composers in history, with some of his most beautiful works including the Carnival Overture, Piano Concerto G Minor and Symphony No. 7 D Minor.
Dvořák is the Philharmonic's identity and specialty. Its connection with Dvořák goes back to 1896 when it had its first performance on stage in Prague with Antonín Dvořák himself as a conductor. As a proud national orchestra of the Czech Republic, it is famous for delivering a clear interpretation of the works of Czech musicians and maintaining the Bohemian tone and style in their music. The programme presented in Korea was especially special as it includes Dvořák's Piano Concerto G Minor, which is an uncommon choice to perform on stage.
On the evening of Oct. 24th at Seoul Arts Center, the Czech Embassy also joined the concert with some prestigious guests to celebrate the joy of music that transcends borders and brings people together.
