Masterpieces by Alphonse Mucha, the world-renowned Art Nouveau artist from the Czech Republic, have arrived in Seoul. On November 7, the exhibition “Alphonse Mucha: Light and Dreams (Mucha: The Artist as Visionary)” officially opened with a grand ceremony at ALT.1, The Hyundai Seoul, and is now welcoming visitors.
This exhibition is jointly organized by the Mucha Trust, the Embassy of the Czech Republic, and leading Korean partners such as Upper East Side and Act Management, adding special significance to the event. It features more than 150 original works by Mucha, including 11 pieces designated as Czech national treasures, drawing strong attention from art lovers. Such a large-scale presentation of original works in Korea is extremely rare.
The exhibition space is curated by era and theme, allowing visitors to explore Mucha’s artistic universe—from advertising posters, illustrations, and decorative panels to his later monumental projects. In particular, works that embody his artistic philosophy and Czech national identity offer a fresh perspective, reintroducing Mucha not merely as an Art Nouveau icon but as a true visionary.
