Working breakfast marking Human Rights Day

Date: 11 December 2023, Venue: Restaurant Spectrum, Fairmont Hotel, Seoul

On the morning of Dec. 11, the Czech Embassy in Seoul hosted a meaningful working breakfast with representatives of South Korean NGOs dedicated to North Korean human rights issues.

In commemoration of Human Rights Day on Dec. 10, we gathered to reaffirm our commitment to the universal value of human rights, freedom, and justice. The French Embassy in Seoul also joined with us, reflecting on a historic event when then French President Francois Mitterrand visited Prague in December 10, 1988, to meet the Czechoslovakian dissidents, including Václav Havel.

Vice Minister of Unification Moon Seoung-hyun and Member of the Korea-Czech Friendship Group of the National Assembly Tae Yongho also graced the event, demonstrating solidarity in our shared commitment to this vital cause.

Czechia upholds the principles of human rights, and is ready to share our experience from the transition from a communist regime to a democratic society.
