The girl at the doorstep

Prizren, Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at 12.30 p.m., inauguration of the photo in front of the Xheneta’s home, “Marin Barleti”str.:
Ivo Šilhavý and Arta Dobroshi want to pay tribute to Xheneta. To remind us that we are walking along other people’s destinies, everyday, everywhere. However, usually we are just passing through with our eyes fixed on ourselves... To remind us that we should keep them open, that we should go through our lives with open minds and hearts towards other people.

The girl at the doorstep

Prizren, Sunday, June 5, 2016. “I was walking with my friends on the street discovering beauties of the city. Suddenly I turned right to a narrow street, I do not know what led me there. I saw two kids playing at the doorstep of an old house. A girl and a boy. She looked at me. I took a picture. I said goodbye to her by a smile and left.

The day after, I was told that the neighboring house collapsed. The girl was playing there. She passed away. Her name was Xheneta.

I have that photo of her. I did not know what purpose there was that I was led to take this picture while I could not do anything about what happened later. I kept asking myself why. But no answer. Then I gave the photo to Arta Dobroshi. Arta found an answer immediately. She suggested we print the picture in a big size and place it right in front of the house where the accident happened, to honor Xheneta.” -  Ivo Šilhavý

“Express the love that you are, in each moment” - Arta Dobroshi

Czech clarinetist Irvin Venyš performed for Xheneta Eric Clapton’s song  "Tears in Heaven"…with known lyrics:

“Beyond the door there's peace I'm sure,
And I know there'll be no more tears in heaven”...
