On August 20, 2018, Ivo Šilhavý accomplished his mission as the Czech Ambassador to Kosovo after four years of service. On the occasion of his departure he said:
“I would like to thank all our Kosovo partners, supporters and friends, and also colleagues from the international and diplomatic community. The Czech Republic has traditionally always had a very good image in Kosovo. However, I hope that the Czech Embassy’s team and our colleagues in Prague MFA succeeded in improving it further on – mainly through successful cultural, business and development projects. Politically, the Czech Republic is a strong supporter of Kosovo’s path to the EU, of its membership in international organizations, and, of course, of visa liberalization. I wish Kosovo people will travel soon into other European states without visa obligation!
I learned here in Kosovo a lot. I am very grateful for it. To all of you. I can see things which I did not notice before so clearly. Václav Havel was saying “Truth and love will prevail over lies and hatred”. I would like just to add: “Yes, they will. However, not on their own. To make them win we have, each of us individually, to practise them with respect in our daily lives...”
