
Czech Development Agency supports Blind People in Kosovo

On June 23, 2017 Czech Ambassador Ivo Šilhavý took part in the training within the project “Integration of the Visually Impaired Individuals and Prevention of Visual Impairment in Kosovo 2015-2017”, financed by the Czech Development Agency and Implemented by NGO People in Need Foundation and Kosovo Association of Blind. In pursuance of the project three eye clinics in Pristina, Peja and Prizren and other subjects are benefiting from ophthalmic equipment and trainings in the field of ophthalmology aiming the improvement of diagnosis and treatment of eye diseases among children and adults. Czech Ambassador Ivo Šilhavý expressed his delight over the event and stressed the importance of the Czech development cooperation in Kosovo in the area of health care system. The Director of Kosovo Association of Blind Bujar Kadriu highly appreciated the cooperation with the Czech Embassy and other Czech partners.
Two Czech trainers from the organization Tyfloservice, Mr. Petr Mach and Ms. Lenka Housková, are training 11 Kosovo trainers for the blind people community on the issue of mobility and orientation from 19 till 30 June, 2017. After the trainings all these 11 Kosovo trainers will help and train Kosovo blind community through-out Kosovo.
