Screening of the iconic film Daisies by Věra Chytilová in Pristina

Pristina's Armata Cinema in cooperation with the duo "Daisies" and the Czech Embassy presented the iconic film Daisies by Věra Chytilová to the Kosovo audience.

The film was screened on 14 August in Pristina. Although it describes the 1960s in communist Czechoslovakia, the young Kosovo audience received it very positively thanks to its interesting surrealistic presentation and the humorously presented rebellion against the established order.

At the very beginning of the event was the idea of two local young artists, Gresa Nuredini and Aurela Berila.  Aurela had already been intrigued by Daisies during her film studies in Prague, and since Gresa shared her enthusiasm for the story, the duo "Daisies" and the idea of screening Vera Chytilová's avant-garde film at the Armata cinema was born in Prishtina.

The interest in the film was considerable, the historic cinema was almost full. Even the girls came in costumes reminiscent of the two main heroines of Daisies. After the screening of Vera Chytilová's famous film, the cultural diplomat of the Embassy praised the idea and efforts of the Kosovar artists and especially the interest of the local young generation in this timeless surrealist film produced by the Czechoslovak New Wave director. Gresa and Aurela talked about the film from their own perspective, reflecting on its parallel with the Kosovo reality and its message for future generations, not only in Kosovo.
