Moravian folklore ensemble Bzenčan on tour in Kosovo

The dancers and musicians of SPT Bzenčan performed at the Newborn International Festival in August in Kosovo.  They presented their dancing skills to the audience in Podujevo, Dečan, Prizren and Pristina

The third edition of the international dance festival Newborn Kosovo 2024 was organized by the Federation of International Dance Festivals FIDAF Kosovo. The Czech Republic was represented by a 23-member folklore ensemble from the Moravian town of Bzenec, SPT Bzenčan, led by Lucie Hacarová. Among other countries, Spain, Albania, Lithuania, Turkey, Croatia, Slovenia, Romania, Mexico and Ukraine sent their folklore groups to Kosovo. It was a perfectly selected mix and a first-class dance spectacle, to which the Czech ensemble contributed with its performance and artistic rendition together with the other ensembles.

The dance performances in Podujevo, Dečan and Prizren were preceded by colourful parades of all artists in national costumes. The final grand finale of the festival took place in Pristina. The parade first passed through Mother Teresa Boulevard before dancing and competing in front of the international jury in the main square of Zahira Pajziti.

The jury's decision was not easy. All the troupes gave wonderful performances, the Czech one in addition with dulcimer and singing. However, only one always wins the gold medal, and this year Mexico won. The Czech ensemble, which gave an excellent performance, took seventh place.  The varied open-air performances attracted a huge number of spectators and the mood was excellent throughout the folk festival. Czech dancers and musicians represented our country well in Kosovo!

Congratulations to the SPT Bzenčan ensemble for a beautiful performance and a wonderful Czech cultural experience in Kosovo!
