On June 13, 2017 the Jewish Community Bet Israel Kosova in cooperation with the Kosovo Security Forces initiated cleaning up of the Jewish cemeteries in Velania and Arbëria neighborhoods in Pristina. Based on mutual agreement, the Kosovo Security Forces together with Bet Israel will take care of both cemeteries in the future.
The Jewish cemetery in Velania neighborhood was rehabilitated in 1999 with financial support by the Czech Republic (€ 11 200) in cooperation with the Institute for Monuments and Municipal Museum of Pristina. There are about 117 graves, 44 of them are covered by a marble slate. The cemetery was used reportedly since 17th century, mainly by Sephardi community.
