
Head of the Czech Embassy at International Day of Persons with Disabilities´ Conference

On the occasion of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities a conference devoted to the situation of people with disabilities in Kosovo was held in Pristina on 3 December.
The conference was attended by Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj, Representative of the EU Office in Kosovo Hillen Francke, Ombudsman Hilmi Jashari and representatives of the most important organizations in Kosovo representing Persons with disabilities.
The conference was attended by the Head of the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Pristina Pavel Bílek. Director of the Office of the Government Office for Good Governance, Human Rights, Equal Opportunities and Gender Issues Habit Hajredini thanked the Czech Embassy for the numerous projects that the Czech Republic has prepared and funded for Kosovo organizations of persons with disabilities. In particular, the Czech Republic implemented projects to support the blind, the deaf and people with Down syndrome.
The conference participants critically reviewed the state of care for the persons with disabilities in Kosovo. Speakers emphasized in particular the need to improve respective legislation. During the conference, a plan of priorities for the care of persons with disabilities for the years 2020-23 was also presented.
