The Latvian Presidency of the European Council was, in Kosovo, launched on 22nd January 2015 by the ceremonial concert in the Cathedral of Blessed Mother Teresa in Pristina.
After the opening speech by the nonresidential Ambassador of Latvia Alberts Sarkanis (based in Prague), the Riga Saxophone Quartet performed pieces of classical music to the audience representing diplomatic corps and local cultural community. The performance of compositions by Johann Sebastian Bach, Joseph Haydn, Georg Frederik Händel and other masters including contemporary ones by the saxophone quartet enjoyed an extraordinary welcome by the listeners.
Before the concert, the Latvian Ambassador met the EU Ambassadors to Pristina and briefed them about the Latvian Presidency’s priorities.
