The Embassy of the Czech Republic in Pretoria accepts applications for employee cards and long-term visas for business purposes in accordance with Government Regulation No. 220/2019 Coll. of 26 August 2019 on the maximum number of applications for a visa for a stay of over 90 days for business purposes, applications for a long-term residence permit for the purpose of investment and applications for an employee card that can be submitted at the embassy.

On 11 June 2025, the Government approved by Resolution No. 415/2025 an amendment to Government Regulation No. 220/2019 Coll., which sets new quotas for economic migration with effect from 1 July 2025.

In accordance with the amendment, from 1 July 2025, the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Pretoria can accept annually:

- 80 applications for employee cards under the Key and Scientific Personnel Programme or the Highly Qualified Employee Programme

- 0 in the Qualified Employee Programme

- 12 applications for a long-term visa for business purposes, of which 4 under the Key and Scientific Personnel Programme.

The previous employee cards - 30 applications outside any programme - were cancelled as of 1 July 2025.

Applications for this type of employee card can no longer be submitted.

The annual quota is fixed and cannot be exceeded.

The submission of applications according to quotas for individual residence permits within and outside economic migration programs is evenly distributed over 12 months.

Applicants who submit applications outside government economic migration programs must make an appointment to submit an application at pretoria.visa@mzv.gov.cz.
