The Czech Republic has been awarded for providing Foreign Development Assistance in Cambodia.

The Czech Republic received the Sahametrei Thnak Tepidin Medal in connection with a commemoration of the commencement of the Takeo Eye Care Program. High Cambodian award can be seen as due recognition by the Cambodian Government for the broader and continuing support provided by the Czech Republic in Cambodia's public health sector since 2013, commenced in connection with joint projects implemented to settle Cambodia's debt to the Czech Republic.
The Czech Republic received a high award for the long-term support of Caritas Takeo Eye Hospital (CTEH). In a ceremony to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the "Caritas Takeo Eye Program," held in Pshar Takor Village in Takeo on October 10, 2017, Head of Mission of the Czech Republic to Cambodia V. Tesar took over the Sahametrei Thnak Tepidin Medal from Cambodia's Deputy Prime Minister Bin Chinn. The representative of the Caritas Czech Republic in Cambodia was decorated with the same level award.
The Takeo Clinic of Eye Care is Cambodia's top specialized medical establishment. With donor support of the Takeo Eye Care Program, the CTEH has managed to build a 70-bed specialized medical facility for post-operative care with nearly 60 staff who provide eye care to a large number of patients every year across the country. The activity of the clinic is financially supported within the framework of the Czech Development Cooperation Program "Support and development of ophthalmology in the rural areas of Takeo Province in Cambodia". This project aims to improve the quality of provision of comprehensive ophthalmological services by increasing the qualifications of physicians and healthcare professionals through regional and national cooperation, as well as increasing the availability of ophthalmic services within the healthcare system at district level to all patients, especially from remote rural areas. The emphasis in the clinic's work is also on broadening the awareness of wide population about the prevention of eye damage and the education and training of health professionals, specialists in eye diseases.
The ceremony in Pshar Takor Village took place with the participation of high-ranking officials of the Cambodian government, central and local institutions, and took place under great public and media interest.
