The Czech Republic will support the development of biomedical engineering in Cambodia

On 3 – 7 June 2019, Czech experts from the Faculty of Biomedical Engineering of the Czech Technical University in Prague visited Cambodia to prepare, in cooperation with the Cambodian University of Health Sciences and the Cambodian Institute of Technology, a project for the development of a new study field of biomedical engineering in Cambodia.

This brand new university study field should provide experts for Cambodian health sector to ensure appropriate operation and maintenance of medical devices in health care facilities thereby significantly improving the quality of provided health care.

During the mission, Cambodian and Czech experts had the opportunity of direct discussion to set-up a new curriculum and inter-university collaboration along with increasing the capacity of Cambodian teachers, improving the necessary equipment and practically oriented teaching. Pproject also includes practical introduction of Cambodian specialists with the functions of medical devices and their maintenance in the Czech Republic.

The project is funded by the Czech Development Agency as part of the Czech Republic's official development assistance to Cambodia.
